Dame Tanni Grey Thompson has emerged as the top woman in the recently announced Times Newspaper's Sporting Power 100 most influential people in British sport.
Dame Tanni was ranked no 42 in the overall 100 followed closely by Dame Sue Campbell Chairman of UK Sport and Tessa Jowell, Olympics Minister. Sir Alex Ferguson was listed as most influential with Lord Coe Chairman of LOCOG in second place.
This most powerful 100 list were chosen from cast of thousands and they were ranked according to influence weilded over their and other sports in Britain, their impact at grass root level, and their place as crowd pleasers and the esteem in which they are held by their peers and the public alike.
Since her retirement as Britain's number one Paralympic track athlete in 2007 Dame Tanni has been active in a variety of areas both inside and outside of the sporting arena . Currently she sits on the UK Sport Mission 2012 Committee, The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Committee, she is a Consultant to The London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games( LOCOG) and also sits on their Sports Advisory Committee. She is a Trustee for "V" Charity, member of the Cabinet Sports Honours Committee, Advisor to the Vodaphone Foundation, a Non Executive Director of UK Athletics "Visa Olympic Great" for Visa Europe, Chair of the Commission on the Future of Women's Sport and is a Board member of Transport for London,
